Atlanta's Cuisine Scene

The jewel of the South has for long been considered the bastion of down home cooking and comfort food movement. But today it is at the forefront of fusion cuisine where the best of the country are flocking to transform the restaurant scene. The warmer climate means people venture out to restaurants all throughout the year and we certainly hope that after trying gaining an insider’s welcome into some of our restaurant partners, you will want to experience a new-found appreciation of the gourmet movement here.

Downtown Atlanta

• Downtown Atlanta is home to many exciting attractions and fun-filled destinations and many of the city’s most sought after attractions are all within walking distance of each other
• The Eastern Continental Divide, a continental divide in the U.S. that separates the Gulf of Mexico drainage from the watersheds that flow directly into the Atlantic Ocean, runs right through downtown Atlanta.
• Even though the Downtown neighborhood is home to some of the world’s largest corporations, our tour strives to highlight several local establishments that are raising the city’s culinary profile.

Midtown

•    Midtown is the second largest business district in the city of Atlanta, situated between the commercial and financial districts of Downtown to the south and Buckhead to the north

•    Did you know that there are over 65 streets named Peachtree and that the name is derived not from the fruit but from an early Native American settlement called Standing “Pitch Tree”.

•    While we cannot promise that peaches will be reflected as a secret ingredient in our sample tastings; the iron chefs from our partner restaurants will certainly try to surprise your senses with delectable offerings.

Downtown Decatur

• Decatur is a city near Atlanta, which remains somewhat isolated from the rest of Atlanta, but is so close as to not really be separate. It is located east of midtown and west of Stone Mountain.
• Did you know that Decatur and Atlanta are Georgia’s only county seats inside the “Perimeter”? Residents are often oblivious about the general knowledge of others about Perimeter when giving directions as ITP or OTP (inside or outside the Perimeter).

Meet Your Atlanta Manager - - Stephen Ochs

Stephen was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia where he grew up with a dedicated interest in sports. In particular, Stephen excelled in baseball which gave him the opportunity through scholarships to further his education at Florida State University and The University of Georgia. While completing his education, he augmented his professional skills by planning events and coordinating marketing efforts for a reputed firm in Athens, GA. 

Prior to joining TheCityTour, Stephen was instrumental in introducing and launching the Atlanta operations of a nationwide firm that works exclusively with high-end restaurants. He cultivated an innate love for the culinary industry and the gourmet establishments that espouse it. Stephen brings an outgoing, creative, and high energy vibe to TheCityTour - Atlanta and is excited to share his love for the city's restaurant scene with you.
